Aunt of toddler's killer guilty of lying to authorities ( Antonio Santiago )

BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- The aunt of a Georgia man who was convicted of fatally shooting an infant in the face while trying to rob the child's mother will spend five years in prison for lying about where her nephew was when it happened, according to the Glynn County District Attorney's Office.

Katrina Elkins, 35, was convicted Friday of making a false statement when she provided police with a bogus alibi for De'Marquise Elkins while they were investigating him for the slaying of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in March 2013, prosecutors said. She pleaded guilty and avoided a trial that was set to go to jury selection Oct. 13.
