DOVER, N.H. (AP) - A jury has convicted a 31-year-old man of killing and raping a University of New Hampshire college student following a trial filled with lurid details of sexual domination, experimentation and violence.

 The jury in Strafford Superior Court returned its verdict Friday, finding Seth Mazzaglia guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott of Westborough, Massachusetts, in October 2012.

Her adoptive parents, Casey and Sandy Parsons, have maintained they allowed a then 13-year-old Erica to stay with a woman they believed to be her biological grandmother Irene Goodman, whom they knew as Nan.


Autumn Pasquale murder to be featured on Lifetime's 'Killer Kids' TV series

Autumn Pasquale's murder and the subsequent investigation, court case and activism of her father will be featured in a new episode of the Lifetime Television Network's "Killer Kids" series titled "The Bike Thief."

Cardenas Hoffman, 30, of Venezuela, was arrested Saturday in a Miami airport for allegedly calling residents and claiming to be Adam Lanza, the late shooter, according to a U.S. Department of Justice statement.

 Hoffman was charged with a criminal complaint in May 2013 for “threats in interstate or foreign commerce to injure the person of another,” the statement said.

One of the teenagers accused of the murder of Australian baseballer Chris Lane will no longer face a first-degree murder charge and is testifying against two co-defendants.

The Stephens County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday filed a motion to dismiss the murder charge against James Francis Edwards Jr.

Woman dies in jail while serving sentence for her kids’ unpaid school fines

A Pennsylvania woman died in a jail cell over the weekend while serving a 48-hour sentence for her children’s unpaid school fines.

Eileen DiNino was found dead on Saturday in a Berks County jail cell where she was midway through the sentence that would have eliminated around $2,000 in fines and related court fees related to her children’s attendance at school.

Police have said her death is not considered suspicious, but the cause has yet to be determined. She was 55 years old and a mother to seven children.
