Help in times of trial: victim advocates navigate the system

For four weeks of trial this winter, Romayne Grant-Muthra-Wright filed into a second-story courtroom and seated herself on a wooden bench in the back corner to watch the murder trial of the man accused of killing her 5½-month-old daughter, Sanjana, in 2008.

Grant-Muthra-Wright has little family in Florida and oftentimes the only person sitting with her during the trial was Racheal Davis, a victim/witness advocate with the State Attorney's Office, who could be seen holding her hand or rubbing her shoulder to offer comfort, support or encouragement.
