Appeals court affirms 40-year sentence for partner in Jada Justice murder

INDIANAPOLIS | The Indiana Court of Appeals has upheld the 40-year prison term issued to Timothy Tkachik, the Hobart man who admitted assisting in the brutal 2009 murder of 2-year-old Jada Justice.

Tkachik, now 28, pleaded guilty in 2010 to two Class A felony counts of child neglect resulting in death for joining his then-girlfriend, Engelica Castillo, in beating the toddler to death and then burning and encasing her body in concrete, before dumping it in a swamp near LaPorte.
