ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Body parts found in garbage bags along a southeastern Michigan road are believed to be the remains of one person and investigators are seeking a woman seen dumping things from a vehicle in the area, a sheriff said.
The remains found starting Thursday afternoon in garbage bags are believed to be from a white male, St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon said in a statement Friday. The bags were in St. Clair and China townships, about 50 miles northeast of Detroit.
FLORENCE, Ariz. -- A husband and wife accused of imprisoning the woman's three daughters inside their Tucson home are facing new charges in Pinal County.
Fernando Richter, 34, and Sophia Richter, 32, pleaded not guilty Friday in Pinal County Superior Court to multiple counts of charges that include child abuse and kidnapping. Fernando Richter also is charged with aggravated assault, child molestation and sexual abuse.
WASHINGTON — Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, could face the death penalty if he is convicted in the first deadly terrorist assault in the USA since the Sept. 11, attacks, Attorney General Eric Holder announced Thursday.
Holder's decision comes more than nine months after the twin bombings were allegedly carried out by Tsarnaev, 20, and his brother, Tamerlan, 26. The attack left three dead and wounded more than 260 gathered near the finish of the iconic race April 15. The elder brother was killed in a confrontation with police in the days after the bombings.
The FBI is now offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the location or return of Erica Lynn Parsons.

Erica was reported missing by a relative on July 30, 2013. The
relative advised investigators he had not seen Erica since November 2011
when she was 13 years old. Erica’s adoptive parents say the girl went
to stay with relatives in the Asheville, North Carolina area and that
they have not seen her since. Sheriff’s investigators have determined
the information the parents provided was not true.
The reward was announced at a news briefing this afternoon in
Salisbury, North Carolina. “The FBI, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and
the SBI are confident our agents and investigators will uncover the
details needed to lead us to Erica, but we are facing a difficult task
because of the amount of time that has passed since she was last seen
and when law enforcement was notified,” said Assistant Special Agent in
Charge, Deron Roberts.
Rowan County Sheriff Kevin Auten said, “We know there is someone who
can help us; now is the time to come forward. We also want to hear from
anyone who had contact with the Parsons family in November 2011. We’ve
said previously that was the last time that Erica was seen.”

A Plano woman who police say made up a story about an intruder assaulting her and suffocating her fiance’s 2-year-old daughter was arrested Tuesday on a charge of capital murder in the girl’s death.
Melinda Lynn Muniz, 25, is accused of killing Grace Lillian Ford, who died Jan. 12 of homicidal violence, including suffocation, according to an autopsy. Muniz was arrested at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

LOVINGSTON — The attorney for the man accused of abduction and murder in the disappearance of Nelson County teenager Alexis Murphy seeks to have the spring jury trial held outside of Nelson County.
Randy Allen Taylor, 48, is charged with first-degree murder, murder during commission of abduction and abduction with intent to defile related to the disappearance and suspected death of Murphy, 17, who last was seen Aug. 3.

The family of Leanne Bearden, who has been missing for more than one week, now admits she may left on her own.
The family posted the following statement on Facebook:
"As you know, Leanne Bearden was last seen leaving her in-law's house in Garden Ridge, Texas, on the afternoon of January 17, 2014 for what she had said was to be a one-hour walk. She has not been seen or heard from by her family since. We initially believed that she was somewhere in the local area. However, after much searching, culminating on January 25 with an extensive air and land search of a 23-square-mile area, including Garden Ridge and the immediate surrounding area, no evidence has been found of her presence.
Whatever the reason, the court-ordered psychiatric evaluation for an Oak Lawn grandmother accused of murdering her infant granddaughter was not done, attorneys for the prosecution and defense told Judge Colleen Hyland on Wednesday at the Bridgeview courthouse.
As a result, it’s not yet been determined if Alfreda Giedrojc, 62, is fit to stand trial on the charge of first-degree murder for the Oct. 6 slaying of Vivian Summers.

PHOENIX - Jodi Arias' legal bills have topped $2 million, a tab being footed by Arizona taxpayers that will only continue to climb with a new penalty phase set for March, officials said Monday.
