Police seek woman after body parts found in bags along road

ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Body parts found in garbage bags along a southeastern Michigan road are believed to be the remains of one person and investigators are seeking a woman seen dumping things from a vehicle in the area, a sheriff said.

The remains found starting Thursday afternoon in garbage bags are believed to be from a white male, St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon said in a statement Friday. The bags were in St. Clair and China townships, about 50 miles northeast of Detroit.

 Holder's decision comes more than nine months after the twin bombings were allegedly carried out by Tsarnaev, 20, and his brother, Tamerlan, 26. The attack left three dead and wounded more than 260 gathered near the finish of the iconic race April 15. The elder brother was killed in a confrontation with police in the days after the bombings.

The FBI is now offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the location or return of Erica Lynn Parsons.

Erica was reported missing by a relative on July 30, 2013. The relative advised investigators he had not seen Erica since November 2011 when she was 13 years old. Erica’s adoptive parents say the girl went to stay with relatives in the Asheville, North Carolina area and that they have not seen her since. Sheriff’s investigators have determined the information the parents provided was not true.
The reward was announced at a news briefing this afternoon in Salisbury, North Carolina. “The FBI, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and the SBI are confident our agents and investigators will uncover the details needed to lead us to Erica, but we are facing a difficult task because of the amount of time that has passed since she was last seen and when law enforcement was notified,” said Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Deron Roberts.
Rowan County Sheriff Kevin Auten said, “We know there is someone who can help us; now is the time to come forward. We also want to hear from anyone who had contact with the Parsons family in November 2011. We’ve said previously that was the last time that Erica was seen.”

A Plano woman who police say made up a story about an intruder assaulting her and suffocating her fiance’s 2-year-old daughter was arrested Tuesday on a charge of capital murder in the girl’s death.

 Melinda Lynn Muniz, 25, is accused of killing Grace Lillian Ford, who died Jan. 12 of homicidal violence, including suffocation, according to an autopsy. Muniz was arrested at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

A researcher who testified in the Casey Anthony murder trial will not take the stand as an expert witness in the first-degree murder trial of a Winston-Salem man accused of killing his wife, a Forsyth County judge ruled Thursday.

Maria Magdalena Rodriguez’s decapitated body was found Dec. 12, 2010 at the end of Williamsburg Road in the Minorcas Creek area off Bethabara Road, about a month after she was reported missing. Her skull was found in May 2013 in another location, according to testimony Thursday in Forsyth Superior Court.

 "As you know, Leanne Bearden was last seen leaving her in-law's house in Garden Ridge, Texas, on the afternoon of January 17, 2014 for what she had said was to be a one-hour walk. She has not been seen or heard from by her family since. We initially believed that she was somewhere in the local area. Husband of Mineral Wells woman found dead in freezer indicted

The husband of a woman found dead inside a freezer last year in Mineral Wells has been indicted on accusations that he provided the methamphetamine on which his wife overdosed.

 Cecil Huddleston, 49, was arrested Saturday after a Palo Pinto grand jury indicted him Jan. 22 on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance causing death or serious bodily injury. He remained in the Palo Pinto County Jail on Wednesday, where he was also being held on a parole violation warrant.

Effingham - Ciara DeRyke, the mother of Willow Long entered a plea in the Effingham County Court on Tuesday.

 Ciara DeRyke, 26, pleaded guilty to obstructing an officer. She was taken into custody in early December for lying to police about her knowledge of the murder.

Ciara told officers back in September, that she saw her daughter on morning of September 8th, even though Willow had reportedly died the night before.

24 more bodies found at Dozier School for Boys than official records indicate; total currently stands at 55

St. Petersburg, FL - University of South Florida researchers say they've located 55 bodies at the now-closed Dozier School for Boys in the Florida panhandle. That's 24 more than official records indicate.

A team of more than 50 people from nine different agencies are now attempting to identify the remains, as well as determine the cause of death. USF Associate Prof. Dr. Erin Kimmerle says they'll use bone and tooth samples to try and identify the bodies.

Deltona fire fighter Terry Freeman's arraignment delayed

 DELTONA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Court Communications Officer, Ludmilla Lelis says there will be no arraignment for Terry Freeman this week or on Feb. 6, as had been previously scheduled.

 Freeman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, filed a waiver of arraignment and a written plea of not guilty for all six of his pending cases.

Investigators bust meth lab at Cahokia home; find girl, 4, inside

CAHOKIA • St. Clair County investigators arrested four people at a Cahokia home that had a methamphetamine lab in the garage and a 4-year-old girl inside.

The bust happened on Friday. Members of the sheriff's department drug tactical unit got information about a possible meth lab and a stolen vehicle in a garage in the 1100 block of St. Helena Avenue. Members of the drug unit and the Metro East Auto Task Force went to the home to investigate.


Jodi Arias defense costs top $2 million

PHOENIX - Jodi Arias' legal bills have topped $2 million, a tab being footed by Arizona taxpayers that will only continue to climb with a new penalty phase set for March, officials said Monday.

Arias, 33, was convicted of murder in May, but the jury couldn't reach a verdict on her sentence. Prosecutors are now pursuing a second penalty phase with a new jury in an effort to get the death penalty. Trial is set for March 17.

Monday's release includes emails between Julie, her husband Parker, other family members, and therapists. The messages describe Julie's deteriorating mental state, as described mostly by Parker.

DARWIN, Australia — Rangers resumed hunting today for a 13-footcrocodile that snatched a 12-year-old boy and mauled his friend as they swam in a water hole in a popular Outback tourist destination in northern Australia.
