WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Three strikes and you're out. The family of Susan Powell has filed a third request with the city of West Valley for the police files into their daughter’s disappearance. If this third request is denied they say they’re prepared to file a lawsuit.

Josh Powell, the only publicly named person in the disappearance of his wife Susan Powell, is dead. He killed himself along with his two children in a house fire back in February. Now, five months later, the West Valley Police Department is still unwilling to share their records into Susan’s disappearance with her family.

Funeral location for Westland teen changed

The funeral location for one of the Westland teens found shot to death in Detroit last week has been changed.

“Due to the enormous response from the Detroit community the location had to be changed due to logistical concerns,” according to a statement from the family today.

Services for Jourdan Bobbish, 17, are set for 11:30 a.m. Friday at Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 40000 Six Mile Road, Northville Township.

Mother Charged With Posting Daughter’s Fight To Facebook

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Latonya Davis, 21 is charged with endangering the welfare of a child by the City of St. Louis. Police say that she was caring for her two year old daughter and babysitting a three year old boy. She allegedly directed the two to fight and recorded the action and posted it to facebook. In the video the defendant can be heard laughing while the fighting children cry hysterically.

Life sentence tossed for Jada Justice killer, Supreme Court sets 65-year term

INDIANAPOLIS | Engelica Castillo was ordered to serve 65 years in prison instead of life for murdering her 2-year-old cousin, Jada Justice. The Indiana Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Castillo's original sentence of life without the possibility of parole was inappropriate.

In a 4-1 decision, written by Chief Justice Brent Dickson, the state's high court said the evidence against Castillo was insufficient for a Lake County jury to find she "knowingly or intentionally" killed Justice, but was sufficient for Castillo to be found guilty of murder as an accomplice.

George Zimmerman wants out of Seminole County

ORLANDO - George Zimmerman wants to change the terms of his probation that require him to live in Seminole County while he awaits trial.

His lawyer, Mark O'Mara, said one main concern is money. He said Seminole County is the most dangerous place for Zimmerman to live, and the cost of round-the-clock security is draining the defense fund.

"We're preparing to file a motion to modify George's bond to allow him to move out of Seminole County," said O'Mara.

The man accused of kidnapping and murdering 15-year-old Sierra LaMar didn't appear at his court hearing Tuesday and his case was continued until Aug. 29. But that didn't stop more than a dozen volunteers who are continuing to search for her from showing up to show their support for the LaMar family.

They started in the courtroom hallway, holding hands in a circle, bowing their heads and praying.

ambulance service operator her mother had fallen was a hoax, West
Yorkshire Police said.

West Yorkshire Police said the youngster made the lengthy 999 call at 10.53am yesterday but, despite extensive inquiries since then, officers have been unable to identify where it came from.

Grandparents charged in Rock Hill baby’s death

ROCK HILL — The grandparents of a 2-month-old baby who died in May are charged with neglect after a police investigation produced evidence for prosecution, authorities say.

Robert Eugene Bryson, 58, and Toni Chavis, 56, both of 844 Willowbrook Ave., were arrested last week and charged with unlawful conduct toward a child, according to Rock Hill Police documents.

Jaylin Chavis died May 7 of positional asphyxiation, said York County Coroner Sabrina Gast.

DETROIT (WWJ) – An arraignment for murder-for-hire suspect Bob Bashara has been adjourned after a judge ruled to allow a new attorney to take over the case.

Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Morrow on Tuesday granted defense attorney David Griem his stipulation for a change of council, after a District Court judge had earlier denied the motion.

Michelle Martin, 52, has served 16 years of 30-year jail term for complicity in the imprisonment and murder of the young victims of Belgian serial killer husband Marc Dutroux.

Families of Dutroux's victims have branded the ruling by the Belgian court in Mons as 'an outrage'.

Joint memorial service for Westland teens set for Saturday

Memorial services are scheduled this week for two Westland teens found shot to death.

Services for Jourdan Bobbish, 17, are set for 11:30 a.m. Friday at Morning Star Church, 29863 Dawson, Garden City. The service is open to the public, and a luncheon will follow at the church, according to a statement from the family Monday.

Detroit— Robert Bashara is expected to face a formal arraignment Tuesday in Wayne County Circuit Court after being ordered to stand trial on charges of solicitation of murder.

Bashara of Grosse Pointe Park is set to appear before Circuit Judge Bruce Morrow. He's accused of attempting to hire a hit man to kill handyman Joseph Gentz, who is jailed in the January killing of Bashara's wife, Jane.

Woman trades baby for truck, deputies say

PALATKA, Fla. - A 30-year-old woman faces felony human trafficking charges after deputies said she traded her son for a truck.

Heather Ann Kaminsky was wanted in Laurel County, Ky. She was arrested by Putnam County Sheriff's Office and members of the U.S. Marshal's Service in Palatka.

Kaminksy was wanted for trading her newborn son for a 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup truck shortly after his birth in January, officials said.

For LP’s birthday, love and gifts from strangers

One child named Katie took out her crayons and colored a handful of pictures for a little girl she’s never met.

Another named Eva just wanted that same little girl to know she’s praying for her. And a group of Sunday school kids from a Kansas City, Kan., church put markers and stickers, glitter and glue on construction paper to help make LP, the girl they’ve heard about through the news, feel special.

Five weeks ago, authorities found the 10-year-old — known in police records only as LP — locked in a dark and tiny closet, her 32-pound body frail and malnourished. Authorities believe she was kept hidden inside her mom’s Kansas City apartment for several years, not allowed to play outside or go to school. Her mother reportedly kept a bowl and a bottle behind the couch where the girl would sometimes eat.

Blood on blanket matched missing SC boy's, police say (Amir Jennings)

COLUMBIA — Bloodstains found on a blanket in Zinah Jennings’ car trunk belonged to the South Carolina woman's missing son, police said during a Monday court hearing.

But a judge must decide whether the blanket can be presented as evidence in her trial, set for late August.

Hemphill Pride II, Jennings’ defense attorney, asked Monday that the bloodstained blanket be barred from the trial because it would prejudice a jury in deciding whether Jennings should be convicted of unlawful conduct toward a child.

She has not been charged with killing her toddler son, Amir, but the blanket would imply that, Pride said.

As girl shot near church fights for life, family seeks answers

A church and community in Orange County have rallied together as a 15-year-old girl fights for her life after she was caught in the crossfire of a shootout Sunday night.

Danielle Sampson's family said they have not left her bedside since the teen was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children with a gunshot wound to the head.

Controversy over Trayvon Martin memorial

A community meeting took place Monday evening, to talk about how to remember the death of Trayvon Martin in a respectful way. His memorial was taken down three weeks ago. Items like teddy bears and pictures were boxed up by the city and are being stored at the Sanford Museum. While some say, it's about time the memorial was cleaned up, others call it an insult.

"After Trayvon Martin was killed there were memorials put at the gate, they were there for several months and at my direction they were removed." George Zimmerman's wife being arraigned

SANFORD, Fla. —

George Zimmerman's wife is being arraigned.
But the court hearing Tuesday in Sanford, Fla., is expected to be uneventful since Shellie Zimmerman already has entered a plea of not guilty to a perjury charge.

She waived her requirement to attend and wasn't going to be present during the hearing. Because of that, the judge won't call her name although it remains on the docket.

Deputies search for missing, disabled Osceola teen

Osceola County deputies said they are searching for a missing and disabled teenager.

Destinee Fields hasn't been seen since July 19, when she left her home on Aspenwood Circle to take the bus to Gateway High School.

Opening arguments in Drew Peterson murder trial to begin Tuesday

A jury of seven men and five women will hear opening arguments in the long-delayed trial on whether Peterson, 58, killed his then-wife Kathleen Savio in 2004 and made it look like an accident.

Savio, 40, was found dead in a dry bathtub on March 1, 2004. Officials ruled the death an accidental drowning until Savio’s body was exhumed as part of their investigation.

They eventually changed the cause of her death from an accident to homicide and charged Peterson with murder.

Police seek accused parking garage killer

The parking garage shooting happened five weeks ago, and police said they are looking for 25-year-old Ronny Batista, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Officials said after going through the evidence, and talking with people who've been calling in tips, a warrant has been issued for Batista's arrest.

The shooting took place in the parking garage at 53 West Central Boulevard early on June 24.

EVANSDALE, Iowa - One of the two girls at the heart of an abduction case in eastern Iowa turns 9 years old on Tuesday.

Elizabeth Collins, 8, and Lyric Cook, 10, were last seen about 12:15 p.m. on July 13 in downtown Evansdale. Their bikes and a purse were found along a trail on the southeast corner of Meyers Lake at about 4 p.m..

Tuesday is Collin's 9th birthday.

Ashley Moser, Mother Of 6-Year-Old Shooting Victim Veronica Moser, Will be Paralyzed, Aunt Says

CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- The Colorado woman who lost her 6-year-old daughter in the Aurora theater shooting and suffered a miscarriage is expected to be paralyzed as a result of her injuries, a family member said Monday.

MaryEllen Hansen said that doctors still hope her niece, Ashley Moser, will have use of her arms.

Moser's daughter, Veronica Moser-Sullivan, was the youngest person slain in the July 20 shooting. On Saturday, Moser's family announced that Moser had suffered a miscarriage related to the trauma of the shooting. Moser suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and abdomen.

ASHLAND, Ohio - The parents of wanted fugitive Nate Summerfield, who's accused of murdering Ashland mom Lynn Jackenheimer, are seeking custody of their 3-year-old son, Leland.

Jackenheimer's parents have had custody of the children, ages 3 and 13, since their daughter disappeared and was later found murdered. When the Jackenheimers went to Ashland Family Court Monday to request full custody of Leland, they learned the Summerfields are also petitioning to get full custody of the boy.

Zimmerman judge to make ruling on recusal request

Judge Kenneth Lester's spokeswoman said he will rule by the end of the week on George Zimmerman's request for him to step down.

Lester was on a two-week vacation, but Monday a court spokeswoman said he is back and will rule by Friday if not earlier.

Zimmerman is asking Lester to recuse himself, arguing the judge's ruling on Zimmerman's latest bond request shows a lack of objectivity toward Zimmerman.

Phoenix woman accused of murdering, dismembering mother

PHOENIX - A Phoenix woman has been arrested, accused of murdering and dismembering her elderly mother.

Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said officers early Monday morning responded to a call of a deceased person inside a home near 47th Avenue and Cactus Road. Crews reportedly located the body of 73-year-old Deborah Hatley.

Dr. Conrad Murray asked an appellate court Monday to order lab testing on a piece of evidence that his defense said might cast doubt on his guilt in Michael Jackson’s death.

In a filing Monday, a lawyer for Murray asked justices for the Second District Court of Appeal to authorize forensic analysis on residue in a bottle of propofol taken from the bedroom of the pop star’s rented Holmby Hills mansion.

Euro Rape Suspect Released on Bond; Passport Seized

The European rising rugby star arrested in Delray Beach two weeks ago in connection with an alleged rape has been released on bond, Gossip Extra has learned.

Maxime Devignez, 18, was ordered to surrender his passport and pay a $100,000-bond. He was released in the custody of family friends in Delray.

Susan Powell’s parents try again for West Valley City police files

The family of Susan Cox Powell has filed a third request with West Valley City for documents related to the missing woman’s case.

Anne Bremner, a Washington attorney who represents the missing mom’s estate and her parents, filed an appeal on Friday with the West Valley City Council after the police department and city manager rejected her request for "any and all investigative files" related to the disappearance of the young mother on Dec. 7, 2009.

FBI: Reward paid in Mayes case

Three minor girls file lawsuit against Backpage.com, allege site forced them into underage prostitution

A lawsuit was filed Monday in Pierce County Superior Court on behalf of three teenage girls against Backpage.com. The lawsuit contends the girls were advertised and sold as prostitutes for the website’s “escort” service.
Two of the girls were 13 years old and the other girl was 15 years old at the time of the alleged incidents. The girls are now 17 and 15 years old.

4th grade teacher arrested on child pornography charges; Reportedly admits attraction to boys

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - David Kiluk is a 4th grade teacher at George Washington Academy in Mount Clemens, but now the 43-year-old is facing federal child porn charges after investigators say they found "child sexually abusive material" on his computer.

According to court documents, Kiluk told investigators that he's attracted to boys and has downloaded between 500 - 1,000 videos of child pornography.

Deputies: DeBary father shot son after son's threats

DeBARY, Fla. -

A DeBary father shot his son early Monday morning in self defense, after the son assaulted both his father and his mother after an argument, according to deputies.

According to Volusia County Sheriff's office, the father and son got into an argument that led 36-year-old Joshua Smith, to hit his father, Dennis Smith, 61.

Family outraged by killer's sentencing

WSVN-TV - Monday morning, the victim's brother, Daniel Mayoral, led a rally protesting a judge's decision to reduce the sentence of his brother's killer. Fourteen-year-old Giovanny Mayoral was shot and killed by Joshua Ladson in August 2006. Ladson was 16 at the time. Aloha woman driving with four children charged with DUII, reckless endangering

A woman reportedly swerving in the lanes on U.S. 26 early Sunday morning with her four children inside the vehicle had a blood-alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit, police said.

Claudia Corona, 25, of Aloha, had a blood-alcohol level of .15. She's been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and four counts of reckless endangering, according to a release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

James Holmes charged with 24 counts of murder in Colorado theater massacre

Holmes was emotionless, and his eyes seemed heavy. He mostly sat back in his chair, sometimes swaying side to side during the proceedings. His gaze often drifted to one of the eight officers stationed in the courtroom, the attorneys or judge.

At one point, he stared at the ceiling. At another, he closed his eyes as if dozing off. He spoke only once, when Sylvester asked him whether he understood that his attorneys had waived a time restriction for his preliminary hearing.

MCDONALD, Pa., July 30 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania man was arrested after allegedly choking his wife over an argument about a chat room she was visiting, police said.

Florida boy forced to smoke pot, officials say

Sheriff's deputies say a McDonough, Ga., man is accused of hitting his wife and forcing a 7-year-old boy to smoke pot at gunpoint.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) -- Colorado prosecutors have formally charged a former doctorate student with 24 counts of murder in the shooting at an Aurora movie theater.

TEMECULA (AP) — A Southern California teacher’s aide has been charged with child endangerment after her naked 12-year-old daughter was found wandering the streets and eating garbage.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports 41-year-old Tracy Lynn Betts was charged with the misdemeanor Thursday.

The Murrieta resident is accused of leaving her naked daughter in a parked car to wait while she was at work.

Deputies: 15-year-old girl shot near Pine Hills

PINE HILLS, Fla. -

A 15-year-old girl was seriously injured on Sunday night when her family was caught in the middle of a shootout in Pine Hills, according to Orange County sheriff's deputies.

Deputies said it happened Sunday night near the Monument of Faith Church at North Lane and Powers Drive. The family was celebrating the mother's birthday and leaving church when two cars sped up to them and they heard gunshots.

The siblings of Robyn Gardner, the 35-year-old Frederick woman who went missing in Aruba last August, say they have faith that their sister is alive and they are speaking publicly for the first time in a bid to renew coverage of Gardner's disappearance.

"We want to keep the story alive, just in case there's somebody out there who knows some information, anything," said her sister, Danielle Colson-Unglesbee.

Andrew Colson, who signs updates to a Facebook awareness group as Gardner's "little 'big' brother," said they are also speaking now to focus attention on Robyn's personality.

Information about a man charged in the random kidnapping and murder of an 18-year-old girl in Alaska in February has been shared with investigators in New Hampshire, according to Senior Assistant Attorney General Jane Young.

The man, Israel Keyes, 34, is also reported to be a person of interest in the random abduction and murder of an Essex, Vt., couple who disappeared last year, the month before 11-year-old Celina Cass was found slain in West Stewartstown.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- An Arkansas man suspected of killing his parents and taking his adopted 12-year-old sister to Memphis will be extradited to face capital murder charges, Little Rock police said Sunday.

Meanwhile, detectives have picked up his sister in Tennessee and brought her back to Arkansas, where she is in Department of Human Services custody while her family makes arrangements for her care, Little Rock police spokeswoman Sgt. Cassandra Davis said in a statement.

Police issued an Amber Alert for the girl Saturday after her parents were found dead in their Little Rock home. A church member going to meet Bobby Whitlow looked inside the home and saw Annette Whitlow lying on the living room floor by a fireplace, according to a police report. He called police, who discovered Bobby Whitlow in the kitchen.

An emotional night in Duson, as friends and family of missing teen, Keiosha Felix gathered for a candlelight vigil. Many gathered at the park in Duson off of Fourth Street to honor missing teen Keiosha. Family, friends and strangers lighting candles and releasing balloons.

"It feels wonderful, it's a wonderful feeling to see all these people out here to support us and what were going through," said Keiosha's aunt Lena Lewis. "I'm very grateful to everyone that made it here today."

(Knox County, Ky.) – A new lead in the case of missing Florence teenager Paige Johnson did not result in her location Sunday.

The 17-year-old mother left her Florence home to visit with friends in Covington in September 2010. She has not been seen or heard from since.

Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders said on his website Sunday that detectives are following a lead at a farm outside of Barbourville in southeastern Kentucky. The information had been received from police in Ohio.

Cops: Roaches crawling on baby's seat in dirty home

"The residence has extreme insect infestation, dog feces covering the floor of the entire residence, and molded food left out in the kitchen area," the arrest warrants, obtained by the AJC, state.

The baby's infant seat had roaches crawling on it and live electrical cords suspended above it in the Austell home, according to Cobb County police.

Missing toddler found alive and well

A 17-month-old toddler who was taken from a house in West Auckland has been found alive and well.

Toddler Alyssa Barker was taken from her home near Kaukapakapa, northwest of Auckland, yesterday at around 3pm by Skye Mason who had been living with the girl's family in the days leading up to the kidnapping.
