An Azle man beat his wife and shaved off her eyebrows and hair because he was upset that she had disciplined her stepdaughter, according to an arrest warrant affidavit released Tuesday by the Parker County Sheriff's Department.
The woman fled their Parker County home last week after her husband struck her more than 20 times and hit her in the stomach with a computer monitor, the affidavit stated.
The husband used shoelaces to tie her up, the affidavit said, but she broke free.
A Glastonbury couple who have nine adopted children have been arrested on sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor charges.
Police arrested on Wednesday George Harasz, 48, and Douglas Wirth, 43, both of Williams Street East.
Police said the arrests stem from investigations that began in February and August.
The state Department of Children and Families said the couple adopted nine children - three separate sibling groups - between 2001 and 2008.

Texas EquuSearch says the groups found will be in Orlando Thursday morning to join the search for Michelle Parker.
However, Miller told reporters that he was not expecting a happy outcome.
"I mean, it's -- I'm going to say it's fairly obvious that she's not alive," Miller said. "This is not going to be one of the miracles like Elizabeth Smart where she's going to show up."
Miller's search teams have handled other high-profile cases, including Caylee Anthony and Natalee Holloway, who disappeared in Aruba.

CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. -- Police have taken the second body found this month on the side of the road in south Georgia from the scene for an autopsy as part of a homicide investigation.
Camden County Sheriff Tommy Gregory confirmed this afternoon that a caller indicated a body was near the woods off the northbound on ramp to Interstate 95 at Exit 14. Police found the body of a female around 2:30 p.m.
They cleared the scene at about 6:30 p.m. today. Gregory said investigators determined the body was there for some time. Sheriff's office spokesman William Terrell said this afternoon the body will be taken to Macon for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The prime suspect in the case of missing mother Michelle Parker was given custody of their two children on Wednesday, as the search for Parker in Lake Ellenor and in a wooded area ended for the day. The search was near Oakridge Road, which was the site of Parker's last cell phone 'ping' two weeks ago.
During an emergency hearing on Wednesday, a judge ruled that Dale Smith Jr. will keep custody of the two 3-year-old twins.
Smith knocked an ABC photographer to the ground on Wednesday. Court records show that kind of behavior is not new for Smith.
Miller said EquuSearch was hesitant to return to Orlando because of its pending lawsuit against Casey Anthony.

The Illinois Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a lower court to take another look at whether disputed evidence can be used against ex-cop Drew Peterson when his murder trial begins.

Prosecutors have said both Dea Millerberg and her husband, 36-year-old Eric Millerberg, may have been involved in the death of 16-year-old Alexis Rasmussen, who disappeared Sept. 10 while baby-sitting for the couple.

The state must return the two children they took away from the estranged ex-fiancé of “People’s Court” mom Michelle Parker - even though cops call him the sole suspect in her disappearance.
An Orlando judge ruled at an emergency hearing Wednesday that the state had no right to take custody of the 3-year-old twins, and ordered them returned to Dale Smith.
The Department of Children and Families took the twin tots on Tuesday, one day after cops announced they were investigating Smith.
At the Wednesday hearing, a state representative argued that the children weren’t safe with Smith because he had a history of abusing women, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
But the judge shot the argument down.
Meanwhile, search crews, including a dive team and a K-9 unit, gathered at an Orange County area lake on Wednesday morning to resume the search for the young mother.
CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Florida authorities say country singer Mindy McCready is missing with her 5-year-old son, and a judge has given her until Thursday to return the boy.
The state Department of Children and Families says a missing persons report was filed with Cape Coral police Tuesday night after McCready took her son Zander from her father's home.
McCready doesn't have custody of her son — her mother does — and the singer was allowed to visit the boy at her father's home, according to a department spokesman. On Tuesday, DCF discovered that McCready and the boy were not at her father's home.

The mother of a toddler killed in New Jersey last week sought help from the state to protect her from the girl's father, who's charged with killing the 2-year-old by tossing her into a creek while she was still strapped in her car seat. But the toddler's maternal grandmother said the state's child-protection system failed her.

The sheriff's office sent dive teams into Lake Ellenor Wednesday as part of the search for Michelle Parker.
We are told 10 to 15 officers are in the area of Sand Lake Road. Underwater teams are also searching Lake Ellenor. The Orlando Police Department is the main agency handling the investigation, but OPD does not have a dive team, which is why the sheriff's office is involved.

Police said Mindy McCready took her son, Xander, from a relative's home in Lee County, Florida. She does not have legal custody of the 5-year-old.
The Department of Children and Families had an emergency hearing in Lee County Tuesday afternoon. In that hearing, a judge gave McCready until 5 p.m. Thursday to safely return Xander to Lee County.

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man allegedly stabbed his 89-year-old grandmother with a snapped broom and then barricaded himself inside a home in South Los Angeles Tuesday.
The stabbing happened at approximately 2 p.m. in the 900 block of West 41 Street, across the street from Manual Arts High School.
A family member called police and the elderly woman was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Gary Giordano is expected to return to the United States Wednesday after his late-night release from an Aruba jail after 116 days in custody, though authorities are still seeking to link him to the disappearance of Robyn Gardner, the traveling companion who was last seen with the businessman back in August.
Aruba Solicitor General Taco Stein reiterated Tuesday that the 50-year-old Gaithersburg, Maryland resident “will remain our prime suspect” in the ongoing investigation.

An emergency custody hearing on Wednesday will determine who will care for the three-year-old twins of a missing Orlando mother.(CNN) -- Gary Giordano, a U.S. citizen held in Aruba in connection with the disappearance of a Maryland woman, was set free Tuesday after months in detention, Giordano's Aruban attorney Chris Lejuez told CNN.
Robyn Gardner was last seen in early August and Aruba's general prosecutor has vowed investigators will keep working "to get to the bottom" of what happened.
"We take this in stride," prosecutor Taco Stein said on Monday of a judge's decision to allow for Giordano's release. "We would have liked it to be different ... Of course, the investigation will continue."

The New Jersey father wanted in the murder of his toddler daughter has been caught in California, authorities tell NBC New York.
Arthur Morgan III, 27, was caught by U.S. Marshals in San Diego Tuesday, authorities said. He was found hiding at a friend's home, and was apprehended in the third-floor apartment.
He did not resist arrest, Michael Schroeder, a spokesman for U.S. Marshals, told NBC New York. Morgan is expected to go through local extradition, which could take days.

An Orange County man faces sexual battery and kidnapping charges after he confessed to raping a 9-year-old girl in his Pine Hills apartment Monday, an arrest report states.
The girl's family reported the incident, which sheriff's deputies say happened about 9 a.m. The girl told investigators she was home with her brother while her parents worked.
That's when deputies say neighbor Maurice Smith, 64, knocked on their door. The girl told deputies that Smith offered fruit for her and her brother, and she accepted.
The report states that the Smith talked the girl into returning to his apartment on Borders Circle. There, authorities say he threw the young girl on his bed and raped her.
The girl told police that Smith asked her during the assault if it hurt, and stopped when she said that it did. She later told her brother about it, and he told their parents.
A bond revocation hearing for the mother of missing three year-old Aliayah Lunsford, was held in Elkins Monday afternoon.
Federal Magistrate Court Judge John Kaull, found sufficient evidence, that Lena Lunsford violated one of her bond conditions.
The hearing was for two alleged violations against her probation for federal charges that she sold her family's food stamps for cash.

A Maryland businessman suspected in the presumed death of his travel companion in Aruba in August was released Tuesday evening, but prosecutors said they will seek his extradition as soon as possible.
Gary Giordano, 50, of Gaithersburg, was released before 7:30 p.m. on the order of a judge, who ruled authorities had failed to justify continuing to hold him.
Giordano, who denies any wrongdoing in the disappearance of 35-year-old Robyn Gardner, of Frederick, is free to leave the island.

Tuesday marks eight weeks since baby Lisa Irwin went missing from her Kansas City home.
Lisa's father Jeremy Irwin called police early on the morning of Oct. 4 when he came home from work and discovered his daughter was missing from her crib.
Since then police and volunteers have launched numerous searches, but there is no sign of where the 1-year-old girl is.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Defense attorneys have rested in their efforts to persuade a jury to spare a Connecticut man the death penalty for killing a woman and her two daughters in a 2007 home invasion.
Attorneys for Joshua Komisarjevsky ended their defense Tuesday in New Haven Superior Court. The Hartford Courant reports that prosecutors began a brief rebuttal before the jury that convicted Komisarjevsky decides whether he should get life in prison or a death sentence.

Prosecutors say a fellow first-class passenger saw Smith viewing the images Saturday and took a cellphone photo before alerting a flight attendant.
Just hours before Gary Giordano is set to be free from an Aruba jail, the family of missing Maryland woman Robyn Gardner has released a statement to ABC News saying they are disappointed at the lack of answers about how she disappeared.
"Needless to say, our family is very disappointed that even after all this time, we are no closer to finding out what happened to our Robyn," Kelly Reed, Gardner's cousin, told ABC News in a statement today. "We trust that the FBI and the Aruban authorities will continue their fervent efforts to investigate her disappearance."
Giordano, the lone suspect in Gardner's disappearance, is scheduled to be released at about 8 p.m. this evening and expected to leave the island immediately, before an appeals council can be convened to review the decision to free him. He has been held as a suspect in Gardner's disappearance since she vanished in August.
An Orem teen that went missing Sunday was found Tuesday afternoon in Provo.
14-year-old Lauren Kade Huey was last seen on Sunday around 1 p.m. in Orem. Orem DPS tweeted on Tuesday that the girl had been found in Provo.
The 8-year-old boy was allegedly attacked in the bathroom of Bryant Elementary School in West Philadelphia at the end of October.
Earlier this month, the mother of the victim spoke to Action News.
"I felt helpless, it took him almost 7 hours to try to tell me what happened," the mother told Action News.
The advanced student is in the same grade and class as his alleged 10-year-old attackers.
The three juvenile suspects turned themselves into the Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit today, accompanied by their parents.
