UPDATE: The Dallas County medical examiner has determined that the body recovered Sunday in Carrollton is that of Jasmen Gonzalez, the 10-year-old who went missing Saturday night, according to TV news reports.
CARROLLTON -- A 10-year-old Oklahoma City girl who disappeared while with her family visiting relatives in the Dallas area has been found dead, police say.
The body of Jasmen Gonzalez, who was last seen Saturday night at an apartment complex, was located Sunday afternoon several blocks away behind a residence, Carrollton police say.
The Dallas County medical examiner determined that the body is that of Gonzalez, according to TV news reports.
Lt. Doug Mitchell says police do not believe the killing was random and the victim had no obvious signs of trauma. He says investigators have examined an SUV and that a person of interest has been interviewed.
Just because Cyndy Short is no longer representing Lisa Irwin’s family doesn’t mean she’s lost interest in the missing 11-month-old toddler.
Short, a Kansas City lawyer who until Friday was local counsel for Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin, announced Sunday that she and her firm will continue working to find Lisa.
Short said she’ll announce details of her plans at a news conference this morning. Though she no longer is formally affiliated with the case, Short said her efforts, and those of her team, will continue in their capacity as “concerned citizens.”
Short joined the case as local counsel for New York defense lawyer Joe Tacopina. Short announced Friday that she was leaving the case. That announcement came after the cancellation of two planned news events, a walk-through by cameramen of Bradley and Irwin’s home and a news conference for local reporters.

CARROLLTON, Texas - After a day-long search for 10-year-old Jasmen Gonzalez, police uncovered a body just a few blocks from the apartment complex where the girl was last seen.
"There was no trauma on the body. There is nobody in custody at present," said Lt. Doug Mitchell.
But police do say there is a person of interest.
Sunday afternoon, police towed a pickup that had been parked outside the apartment where the little girl had stayed.
Officers spent the day interviewing friends and family members.
Police say Jasmen and her parents, who live in Oklahoma City, were in Carrollton to visit relatives.
Investigators originally thought the girl may have wandered out of the home in her sleep and got lost or injured.

DOSWELL, Va. (WAVY) - A celebration was held in Northern Virginia cheering the happy ending in the search for a young autistic boy.
Dozens gathered at a local community center in Doswell, Virginia for a candlelight celebration.
This was after crews found 8-year-old Robert Wood Jr. on Friday.
Many of those attending helped in the search for the child.
He disappeared a week ago and was found in a creek bed by a volunteer.

The investigation into the disappearance of three year-old Aliayah Lunsford continues in Lewis County, but community members say they will continue to hope for her safe return.
Saturday marked five weeks since Aliayah disappeared from her Bendale home.
After more than a month searching the woods and in the water, police are still hesitant to release much information about their investigation.
We do know that the FBI headquarters relocated earlier this week to a more rural part of the county, but have since moved back to the State Police barracks in Weston.

It’s a story most have heard by now, a story that hundreds of thousands anxiously followed.
A story that, by day six, had brought out 6,000 volunteers—some from as far as Alaska—because a little boy with autism remained lost in the woods. On Sunday, Oct. 23, on a hike in the 80-acre North Anna Battlefield Park, the young boy darted away from his father and his girlfriend.
Somehow, the nine-year-old Robert Wood Jr. eluded search teams, for six day. The teams covered over 22-square-miles of territory. His rescue came right before a storm hit the area, bringing freezing temperatures and sleet.

Casey Anthony's attorney is speaking out about the release of the names of the jurors in the case. Jose Baez appeared on FOX News Channel's Geraldo at Large Sunday night.
Judge Belvin Perry held off on releasing the names until October to give the public a cooling off period.
Jose Baez said releasing the names was a disgrace to our justice system. "They raised their hands and they swore to uphold the law and to truly try this case. They did that and now their being vilified for it because it didn't work out the way the media wanted it to. I'm truly just disgusted by it.

NEW HAVEN - Defense attorneys for Joshua Komisarjevsky are asking a Superior Court judge to allow them to subpoena the convicted killer's 9-year-old daughter for videotaped testimony at his death penalty hearing.
Defense attorneys last spring requested that the child's legal guardian allow a videotaped interview to be replayed during the penalty phase of his trial.
According to defense sources, an attorney was hired to represent the child and the request was denied. The defense is now moving to subpoena the girl's testimony, but the prosecution has objected. Judge Jon C. Blue scheduled a Nov. 3 hearing on a request to close the courtroom during the hearing over whether the girl will testify.
On July 23, 2007, Komisarjevsky and an accomplice broke into a Cheshire home, tied up the family and set the house on fire, killing Hayley Petit, 17, and Michaela Petit, 11. Their mother, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, was raped and strangled by Komisarjevsky's accomplice, Steven Hayes, during the attack.

Police dogs sniffed atop animal graves in southern Aruba about a month ago for the remains of Robyn Gardner, but not for reasons that The National Enquirer is reporting, according to Taco Stein, spokesman for the Office of the Public Prosecutor in Aruba.
Gardner, of Frederick, went missing on the island Aug. 2.
Police searched the area not because witnesses reported that they saw Gardner abused there, as The National Enquirer is reporting this week, but because “it is an area that one could get rid of a body,” Stein said Friday.

I’m always baffled by George and Cindy Anthony, the parents of Casey Anthony.
Just when you think we might get a break from the couple, up they pop.
They made headlines Saturday by attending the “Family Unity Walk and Run,” an event in their neighborhood to honor their late granddaughter, Caylee. I’m not sure the footage was flattering: Cindy wore stylish sunglasses and smiled broadly as she took pictures. Oh, the strange vibes.
But George and Cindy have kept me scratching my head for the last three years. I thought they were foolish to make those TV appearances before Casey’s murder trial. They seemed to make matters worse for Casey, and the turnover in their lawyers suggested they didn’t follow public-relations advice.
Then Casey was acquitted, and now I wonder: Were George and Cindy savvy with those TV appearances? Could it be they helped Casey ultimately by taking the focus off her? (Oh, and the couple got a lot of trips to New York, too.)

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) — A U.S. businessman who has been jailed in Aruba for nearly three months as a suspect in the death of his traveling companion must remain in custody for at least 30 more days to give investigators more time to gather and evaluate evidence, a judge on the island ruled Friday.
Aruban prosecutors announced the ruling after a closed hearing on the Dutch Caribbean island. Gary Giordano, a 50-year-old employment agency owner from Gaithersburg, Md., has been in jail since Aug. 5, three days after he told police companion Robyn Gardner was swept out to sea while snorkeling.

Hunt, who lives near the home Celina shared with her family, said neither she nor another guest saw anything that caused them to worry about the little girl the night of July 25.
