The whole nation watched as the story of Caylee Anthony came to a conclusion of not guilty for her accused murderer. Caylee's story melted the hearts of many and woke up the nation on the rights of these children. So many have been abused , murdered, or are missing! All their stories are riveting and heartbreaking.
Caylee Anthony went missing, reported by her grandmother. A young 3 year old murdered and left to decompose in the wooded swamp, just houses from her own home. Her mother being the accused murderer walked free by a jury of her peers. Many people felt no justice was served for this precious little girl.
Zahra Baker , murdered, dismembered, and scattered in fields near her home. This evil deed was carried out by her step mother, Elisa Baker. Elisa was charged in the death of Zahra and received 14 to 18 years for Zahra's death. Elisa is now up for pending drug charges. Chances are she will get more time for the drugs than the brutal murder of her step daughter.
Many have learned following these cases for the last 4 years that it has never been a "stranger" abduction. "Stranger" abduction seems to be very rare. It seems that it is always a family member or family acquaintance. Someone the family has made contact with.
Also noted is that the victims have less rights than their murderers. The accused can lie, hide and lawyer up. With the truth and justice buried. They walk away or their sentences are so light on their heinous crimes.
The laws concerning our children need to be changed and adjusted. The children need protection and laws need to be harsher on their abusers, acts of neglect and murderers. With the laws as they are it seems the police are no longer effective in solving cases and arresting the guilty. To many laws protect the guilty and not the victim. The dead and missing have no voice, nor are they lawyer-ed up. We need to wake up and start protecting our loved ones. So many missing, murdered and abused, it is hard to keep track. 2011 was a brutal year. Will justice ever come for these victims?
