ST. PAUL (WCCO) ―
A 43-year-old man pleaded guilty to killing his wife and two of their
children in their Vadnais Heights apartment, the Ramsey County
Attorney's Office announced Friday.
County Attorney Susan Gaertner said the Attorney's Office will ask for Justus Ogendi Kebabe to be sentenced to three consecutive 25 1/2-year sentences, for which he would actually spend approximately 50 years in prison.
Kebabe admitted in court that he struck his wife, Bilha Omare, in the head with a golf club and also strangled her. He also admitted to giving the two kids cranberry juice with Tylenol PM pills, drowning his son in a bathtub and strangling his daughter until she died.
"The defendant has admitted guilt for committing one of the most horrific crimes I can recall," Gaertner said. "His plea cannot undo the tragedy of three senseless murders, but it does bring a measure of swift justice."
Kebabe's sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 14, 2011 at 9 a.m.
