CENTREVILLE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3)  -  Doug Stewart's trial was set to begin next week but we've now learned it's being delayed.
In just about two weeks a judge is holding a hearing to see if certain evidence will be allowed in court.
The family of Venus Stewart was hoping the trial would start next week and hoping to see Doug Stewart have his day in court but they'll have to wait a little longer.
NEWSCHANNEL 3 has learned a hearing is now scheduled for November 5th surrounding the murder trial of Douglas Stewart.  He's the man accused of abducting his estranged wife Venus Stewart, killing her, and getting rid of the mother's body.
A judge will decide whether proposed hearsay statements from Venus are admissible in court.  This means the trial start date with jury selection scheduled for the end of next week is being pushed back.
"The grief clouds everythings. We're just living in limbo. We'll be glad to get this part of it behind us," said Larry McComb Venus' Father.
Venus tells NEWSCHANNEL 3 Douglas Stewart's defense attorneys along with police and the prosecution were at his house on Wednesday.  They inspected the inside and outside of the home on Driftwood Drive in Colon looking for information.  Her father was there but not involved in this visit.
"That was between Doug's defense team and the state police. They had their thing they had to do to see about the crime scene and I hope it helped them and they'll be able to move forward soon," said McComb.
Family and friends continue to search for any clues to the whereabouts of Venus.  Her body is still missing.
