Child endangerment charges have been filed in Middlesex County.EDISON — The father of a toddler abandoned earlier this week in Delaware was charged with the murder of the child's mother, a North Brunswick woman whose body was found burning in a public park in Ramapo, N.Y. on Monday.
Dwayne Jackson, 25, was charged Thursday night with the murder of the 20-month-old toddler's mother, and his bail was raised to $2 million from $750,000, according to officials at the Middlesex County Jail, where he has been lodged since his arrest Wednesday.
Jackson was arrested and charged with kidnapping and endangering the welfare of his daughter, who was found crying in the men's room of a gas station in Newark, Delaware Sunday afternoon.
But, authorities refused Thursday to identify her or her mother.
A law enforcement official told the Rockland County Journal News the woman found in the park as Patricia Belizaire, 24, of North Brunswick.
Ramapo police referred all questions to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, but Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe, said authorities believe the woman found burning in the park is the mother of the toddler found in Delaware.
Jackson has also been charged by Newark, Del. police with reckless endangerment for leaving the child in the gas station.
The child is in good health and is in the custody of the Division of Youth and Family Services in Delaware.
